Gourmet Food & WineLime Tree Lodge hosts, Sally and Rebecca, have excellent credentials when it comes to crafting the best in gourmet food from the very best in local produce. An experienced gardener, Rebecca maintains a small olive grove, a large vegetable and herb garden and an orchard of stone fruit. Sally has spent time as a second chef in Europe. Guests of Lime Tree Lodge will enjoy gourmet breakfasts including fresh fruit; bottled stone-fruit (grown in nearby Cromwell, the 'fruit bowl' of New Zealand), home-made muesli, marmalade and chutneys; local honey, bacon, gourmet sausages and free range eggs from their own hens; freshly ground coffee and an extensive range of Harney & Sons Fine Teas. Complimentary aperitifs, including hand-made cheeses, home-made pates and local delicacies such as whitebait fritters, local river salmon and Bluff oysters, are also a Lodge speciality, enjoyed with fine central Otago wines and the Lodge's own Vodka lime gimlets, made with freshly squeezed lime juice. For something quite memorable, enjoy a lavish 3-course dinner, prepared by your very own personal chef - Brona Parsons of Raspberry Creek, Professional Chef Services. Brona has a wealth of experience in the hospitality industry. Living in stunning Central Otago, Brona is inspired by the local produce. She is passionate about creating simple yet delectable food and providing quality service. Dinner is based on a set menu which features the pick of seasonal Otago produce; high country salmon, New Zealand lamb and beef, salads and herbs gathered from our own gardens and desserts made from local, organically-grown berries and stone-fruits - all matched with Central Otago wines selected from our cellar. Try citrus cured salmon gravlax with vegetable relish or duck breast salad, wilted greens, warm goat’s cheese and walnut vinaigrette for a starter; follow with herb-crusted lamb rack, aubergine puree, slow roasted tomatoes and summer greens or star-anise rubbed wild venison with black cherry jus, sautéed potatoes and grilled asparagus. Finish on a high note with flourless chocolate cake, served with fresh raspberries and coffee crème anglais or goats cheese and honey parfait with candied walnuts and fresh pear. Dinner is available by prior arrangement only and is subject to the availability of our chef. To avoid disappointment, we recommend that dinner reservations are made in conjunction with your accommodation booking or phoned in advance (48 hours minimum notice). The cost is NZ$150 per adult (including wine) or NZ$75 per child. Vegetarian or specific dietary needs can be catered for, subject to advance notice. |
